About Galway Salthill Rotary Club

District 1160 Ireland

Our Rotary Club was founded and chartered in 1986. We are situated on the west coast of Ireland.

Galway, the “Citie of the Tribes”, is a city rich in heritage, and steeped in history, as well as a vibrant modern, confident location, reflecting the Ireland of the 21st century.

Salthill’s best known and popular facility is “The Promenade”, which is popular all year round. It extends over 1 km in length, overlooking Galway Bay. This year it is the Irish stop of The World wide Volvo Ocean Race.

We have since 2008 twinned with Toulouse-Jacobins, France in advancing International understanding, goodwill, peace, through the fellowship of Rotary International .

Our Club Logo reflects the “Galway Hooker”, a symbol of our close ties to the sea, particularily to Claddagh, which is known worldwide for its unique friendship ring.

We welcome visiting Rotarians, to our club meeting at the Ardilaun Hotel on Monday evenings at 6.30pm
