Rotary Clubs  Twin

The 7th July 2008,  marked a special event in the Rotary clubs of Toulouse –Jacobins, and Galway  Salthill.  Members of Toulouse Jacobins visited Galway and Connemara on a fact finding mission of compatability and common objectives.  Galway Salthill Rotary Club members, hosted the delegation from Toulouse-Jacobins, and  by all accounts, provided them with an exciting programme for the weekend in Galway and Connemara.  Much to their surprise they met  by chance rugby International and Toulouse  player Trevor Brennan, holidaying in Clifden.    Galway Salthill Rotary Club President’s night was held during their visit, and the formal twinning arrangement was consumated between both clubs with  much pleasure.

In early December, some members of Galway Salthill Rotary club went to Toulouse at the invitation of the Toulouse Jacobin’s, and had a wonderful and hospitable time.  There is frequent contact between the members of the two clubs, as long lasting friendships are already developed between them.

We have invited some delegates and their partners to once again visit us on the 20th June, where we have a good programme arranged for them, while staying at the homes of their hosts.   The programme will include gourmet seafood, a Rotary barbaque, music and song, tour of Galway city,  visit to historical and military sites, and attendance at our weekly Rotary club meeting which has been resceduled to coincide with their visit.    Our twinning arrangement with Toulouse-Jacobins is going from strenght to strenght involving all members of Galway Salthill Rotary Club, who are now challenged to speak more fluently their school learned French.
